Barcelona has concluded this Wednesday ten new housing developments - some still pending delivery - by the city council that in total contribute 746 new apartments to its public park . According to data from the council, the park is now set at 12,300 municipally owned apartments .
The new homes, promoted by the Institut Municipal de l'Habitatge i de Barcelona (IMHAB), began to be delivered in November and some will be delivered during the first four months of 2024.
Of the 746 homes, 585 will be social and affordable rentals - affordable Job Seekers Phone Numbers List is rent with a price that is between the market and the social -, the formula that the city council considers essential so that the apartments never lose their protection, as happened in the last decades. Of the 585 for rent, 230 will be apartments with specific services for older people.
The rest will be allocated to surface rights, that is, they will be transferred to private companies for 75 years before returning to municipal hands after that period. The neighbors of the new 746 apartments will be people who appear in the Registry of housing applicants.
The finished homes have required an investment of 111.4 million and are in five different districts. The new developments are located in five Barcelona districts. In Sants-Montjuïc (180 homes), the three-block building on Cal street and a building with a unique architecture (triangular floor plan with an acute angle and a red façade) on Ulldecona street. In Horta, a 105-flat development on Avenida de l'Estatut de Catalunya enters the public housing stock, the construction and management of which has been delegated to the Fem Ciutat cooperative.
In Nou Barris, the public housing stock is increased with two developments totaling a hundred apartments, specifically on Escolapi Càncer avenue in the Torre neighborhood and on street.
Sant Andreu concentrates four promotions. The first is a building planned as part of the remodeling of the old Cheap Houses neighborhood of Bon Pastior, the first in this area that is not intended for the relocation of urban planning victims but rather for public housing applicants. There is also a double promotion in the area of Porta Trinitat, in the Trinitat Vella, and one that will be allocated entirely to older people in the old Sant Andreu barracks.
